Arbitration

  • Following the banning of an editor by the WMF last year, the Arbitration Committee resolved to hold an RfC regarding on-wiki harassment. The RfC has been posted at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Anti-harassment RfC and is open to comments from the community.
  • The Medicine case was closed, with a remedy authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for all discussions about pharmaceutical drug prices and pricing and for edits adding, changing, or removing pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing from articles.

Discrepency[edit]

Why does your user page say that you joined on 3 March 2015, when your logs say that your account was created on 2 May 2004 at 16:34? Beyond My Ken (talk) 11:11, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't. It says I joined Wikimedia Co-op then. However you are not the only person to make this mistake. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 11:28, 2 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]
Sorry, it doesn't read that way. You might want to adjust it if that's what you're trying to say. Beyond My Ken (talk) 13:12, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the Co-op template over an hour before your reply. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 14:51, 2 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Nomination of Biblical accommodation for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Biblical accommodation is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biblical accommodation until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Feline Hymnic (talk) 09:34, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Only warning[edit]

Rich Farmbrough is not permitted to make any mass changes to articles, broadly construed, and regardless of editing method, cosmetic or not, without a demonstrable consensus from the community that he is explicitly permitted to do so.

If I had discovered your mass edits like this one back in May, I would have blocked you immediately. I will not, because blocks are meant to be preventive, but you will be blocked if I see you restoring these changes to any articles. Nyttend backup (talk) 23:52, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nyttend backup/Nyttend: This incident went to ANI and resulted in clarification over what kind of consensus is demonstrable consensus. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 00:30, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There was demonstrable consensus for those edits. Please restore them forthwith. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 02:29, 7 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

More about your saints list[edit]

Hey Rich, as I've told you before, I've been going through your Female saints list, which you got from Catholic.org. You should know that many of the website's entries are cut and paste from difference sources, one of them being Wikipedia. As a result, I'm only using your list as a jumping-off point to help me with research. I'd like to mention that on your list, if I may, and then as I go through the list, remove the links to the site there. Would that be okay with you, sir? Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 03:37, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What they seem to do is copy WP articles without attribution into the "more info" section. I don't see an advantage to removing the links, but I don't really mind if you do. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 03:58, 7 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]
That is what they do, but they also use content from other places (books, even) without attribution. If WP has a long-ish article, they put it in their more info section. As a Catholic myself, I'm embarrassed and ashamed. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 05:53, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be embarrassed. Even if they are Catholic, which is (at least) open to doubt. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 08:04, 7 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Porpius Aurelianus[edit]

Hello, Rich Farmbrough. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Porpius Aurelianus".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 11:44, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I spotted that we'd hit 4 million, but I see you got there first! Any chance of an updated screenshot? I can't work out how to do it. PamD 16:14, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Took the screenshot, just a question of making it go where I want! All the best: Rich Farmbrough 18:06, 17 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Date formats[edit]

Hi, a point I've made in several forums: when you add {{Use dmy dates}}, as you did at Linnaea borealis, since the existing citation style should be respected, then if it consistently uses yyyy-mm-dd for access and archive dates, as this article did, you need to include |cs1-dates=ly to prevent automatic formatting of these yyyy-mm-dd dates as dmy. Peter coxhead (talk) 08:27, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, that's a useful tip. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 08:31, 21 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:El Pus albums requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Zero-width space[edit]

What is going on here? Please consolidate edits and keep experiments out of the main namespace. Nardog (talk) 15:06, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's a wiki. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 19:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]
It's a wiki with a preview button and other editors to whom courtesy is owed. The 93 consecutive edits you made to this article, counting charitably, removed 44 characters and added 221 to the wikitext, and I spot nothing that could not have been done with a single edit. Please use the preview button in order to minimize the review burden and the inconvenience caused by severely cluttered page histories imposed upon other editors; continued boundary-pushing may be disruptive. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 02:45, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I used the preview button extensively. It was a hard problem, made worse by a bug in the Mediawiki software. I was fixing a factual inaccuracy in an article, and I don't appreciate being told off for doing that. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 22:19, 24 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]
