With these general elections results tables, there's a real need to have a column for unopposed returns. I think there was one election where all the Nationalist MPs were returned unopposed and the party only put up a few token candidates in contests, so it can look a bit odd to see them getting several seats with a tiny vote. Thank you for the improvement. Yes, I think there is enough room for the narrow headlines.
However, I am afraid that linking each and every year page to the article "humanities" is Overlinking. There are thousands of other pages that would have more justification for such a link. See Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context and my proposed rule of thumb (for links to year pages) at [1]).
Another, bigger problem I experience while editing the year pages is Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Years#Timeline Infobox (YearInTopic) and sporadically busy countries. UK former constituency infobox with creation dates before 1884[edit]
Hi.
I notice that you have added several UK former constituency infoboxes to articles with creation dates prior to the Representation of the People Act 1884. Examples would be Reading (UK Parliament constituency) and Armagh (UK Parliament constituency). It is my understanding that this act effectively introduced the concept of a parliamentary constituency. Prior to 1884, we simply had boroughs and counties electing multiple MPs without any concept of a member having a particular constituency. I may well have misunderstood either the facts or your intentions, but I thought it worth pointing out. -- Chris j wood 17:40, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Seeking guidance[edit]
I am seeking your guidance and advice on a particular issue. Mahuri page on wikipedia was initiated by me, and I have contributed to the page from time to time. As per policy of the wikipedia anyone can use the contents of wikipedia, but I understand that use of such contents should indicate the source, that is, the wikipedia. The contents of the page Mahuri have been used in the site mahurivaisya without giving any reference to wikipedia - though I am glad that they have used our contents. In this case, a problem may arise at a future date if that website takes a stand that the contents of page Mahuri on wikipedia have been copied from that site and thus violates copyrights. In an alternative scenario, a user here may tag our Mahuri page with copyright violation under the impression that our contents have been copied from that site, reference to which was given by me long back as an external link when that site was not active and having only a welcome page. Although I am not aware of any such issue, which wikipedians may have encountered in the past, I believe that such a situation may have arisen earlier too. I seek your advice and guidance to deal with this issue, which you are requested to kindly post post on my talk page please. I also utilize this opportunity to say Hello to you. Hmm. Interesting! I hadn't actually expected there to have been a cricket ground there - what luck. If we look here we see Yorkshire routinely using it as a home ground, about twice every year, - and not just against Derbyshire. It looks like they haven't played there since 1996 though? - Yeah. Derbyshire played there well after it became part of Sheffield, after all. I wonder why they stopped - I would guess because it is a very annoying place to get to from Derby. Dunayevskaya[edit]
Hi, I have some questions about your edits of the Raya Dunayevskaya article. First, why put the SWP role in the intro? It's mentioned in the text (like the books), and is far less important than her writings, her leadership in News and Letters Committees, etc. I see when the page was first created her SWP role was virtually all that got mentioned, but that's undoubtedly because of the viewpoint of whoever started the page. Her most important contributions are the philosophy and the organization she created, so why shouldn't those come first?
Second, I removed the statement that she returned to the U.S. in 1939 because it's factually incorrect. In restoring it, why did you delete the information about her break with Trotsky? I can see wanting to expand the explanation of the break, but I see no reason to delete it altogether. Please note, a political break is not identical to an organizational split.

Sorry I've been too busy to respond sooner. Absolutely I have sources. Among people familiar with Dunayevskaya, it's well-known that she split with Trotsky over the Hitler-Stalin Pact. I'll clarify the wording on that. As for putting the SWP in the intro, I'm not sure what you mean saying that she was a leader of the SWP. Do you have a source for that? In any case, it seems to me that the reason to have an entry on her in any encyclopedia is her original contributions, not her membership in the SWP from 1938-1940 and 1947-1951. I don't see the logic in putting that on a level with her original contributions, including founding and leading her own organization for 32 years. There may be some Trotskyists who think the most important thing about her would be her association with the SWP, but that's not just an alternative opinion, it's an uninformed opinion. hyphens and en-dashes[edit]
Hi, well done on all the work you've put into Northern Ireland politics. This might seem a minor issue, but hyphens (-) are used to link words and people's names. En-dashes (–), however, are used to suggest a time span, or a distance (the Dublin–Galway road), etc. You'll find more info on this at Dash. Take your List of Ulster Unionist Party MPs, for example. B&ICO history[edit]
The organisation has never been officially wound up. The assumption from the 1980s has been that Western Europe could and should develop on democratic socialist lines. We've never appologised for considering other options when it was much less clear how Western Europe would do.
There should be something on-line at the Bevin Sociey site quite soon. As I said before, I figured you were making an honest effort to figure out events from various sources, some of them not particularly honest.

- What I believe or what my opinion is doesn't really matter (see WP:NPOV). What matters is the criteria set down on the category page. Adhering to it is not making anymore of a point than is inserting a relevant and documented fact into an article. I am involed in a little dispute on the deletion of Right-wing terrorism and Left-wing terrorism. I'm can see why Xemoi is adocating their deletion but i don't think I agree. Prehaps it is right that they should both be merged ... at any rate I disagree that the most of the content is fundementally POV and would like to see it kept in one form or another.

Karst topography[edit]
Noticed your edit here. I'm no expert in this area (but interested in it, being Derbyshire born n'bred), but aren't the Karst areas more likely round the edges of the limestone area, where the drainage from the adjacent non-limestone rocks helps contribute to the limesone erosion?. (So just putting White Peak is a bit sweeping?)

Template idea[edit]
Hello, Warofdreams. After a little investigation, I found that you created the Gay rights in Asia template. I have a idea for a new LGBT related template, and am hoping that you can help.
The template, called "Het Homohuwelijk in de Verenigde Staten" (Gay marriage in the United States), on the Dutch article nl:Federal Marriage Amendment is ideal for the English Federal Marriage Amendment article. The Federal Marriage Amendment is a hot button issue now, as George W. Bush is once again pushing for its ratification. Template:Roman[edit]
I saw your Roman numeral template and started playing around to make it work for numbers greater than 3999. The version at User:Dpv/Test Roman should work for numbers up to 3,999,999 right now and 4,999,999 if it replaces Template:Roman (according to the description at Roman numerals, including the macron. - It's in place now and seems to be functioning. On the handling of 4000, I made the (perhaps lazy) decicion to keep the overlined characters separate from the regular characters, resulting in MMMM. I have never seen MV cited as the proper Roman numerals for 4000, but if that's right, I'd be happy to change it. Thanks for the feedback. Dpv 13:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

clannish inheritance pattern[edit]
Hi. I have edited the description and features about the clannish inheritance pattern known in Frankish tribal world as Salic patrimony. Now I am well aware that similar or almost similar concept of inheritance and succession has been regular in almost all other clannish societies. You seem to know much about a non-Germanic clannish society (African?? possible Japan??). Therefore I ask you to browse your knowledge/ sources and to dig what concept(s) are used of the resembling thing in societies you are knowledgeable about. I mean (1) partitioning pattern (2) male-line circle of eligible heirs (3) succession concept when something, like chieftainship or kingship, was not possible to partition (4) concept or concepts which describe the understanding of the nature of the "patrimony", and the lands in question, and their possible inalienability. Adminship standards?[edit]
This is about Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Mtz206, which I believe was not closed according to the usual standards, which requires explanation. I have nothing for or against the candidate; I didn't vote in the process. However, the voting was (41/12/5), and I read the part of Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#About_RfA that says "(the threshold for consensus here is roughly 75–80 percent support)." as not being met. Support therefore seems to have been 41 out of 58 votes cast, which is 70%. Of course this is a rough threshold, and no doubt you have your reasons - but I do think they should be explained, on that RFA page, or at least its associated talk page. Historic Roots[edit]
I'm not sure why it was so important to you to remove the historic roots sections I added. They certainly did cover an area that was not covered in the articles, however, so the reason you gave is incorrect. I thought it was an interesting piece of 1930s American Trotskyist history for people to click on that I'm sure would not be something the people from these parties would disagree with and I really don't know who else would. Oh well, I really don't want to get into a fight about, but I do think it should be reverted to the way it was.Steven Argue 21:26, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

- In England there is no official entity of a 'Town Council', it is a title that any parish council can adopt. In fact there is no longer any legal or official definition of a 'Town'. To deny Liphook the place on this list merely because one editor has used the word 'village' is arbitrary. Unless you have amore valid reason, will you agree to my restoring it to the list? - I'm sorry, you are still going to provide a better reason for removing Liphook from the list. Either that, or the list gets a major edit as looking through the current article well over 50% of the 'towns' do not meet the criteria as you list them. As a starter Basingstoke, Eastleigh and Milton Keynes do not meet the rules other than they have choosen to call their council a 'town council'. Nuttah68 17:52, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
