Wikification[edit]

Hi - please note that it is not helpful to mark articles such as Danny O'Connor (politician) or Gunnar Ekstrand as requiring Wikification, when they are already Wikified. While they would benefit from expansion, or perhaps from the addition of sections, infoboxes, etc, should you feel these issues need addressing, they have their own tags. Oops, sorry. Guess I scanned a bit too quickly there. Thanks for the notice. -jj137 T/C 00:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HP =? Harry Potter[edit]

Hello, Warofdreams. I'm in the middle of some over-blown problem with the HP (disambiguation) page. Would you mind taking a look at Talk:HP (disambiguation) and Talk:Harry Potter and tell me what my options are? It looks like temporary protection (of any version) may be needed in the short term, but I'm assuming I shouldn't do it since I've been one of the recent editors. Thanks! -- JHunterJ 11:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Tafea.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Siebrand 21:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Parliament of Northern Ireland[edit]

Where are you getting the constituency name of Antrim Borough from, that constituency was known as 'Antrim, Antrim', same as Bannside was 'Antrim, Bannside' and so on.--Padraig 12:37, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the tables on that article you will see it also uses 'Antrim, Antrim' for the elections from 1929, which is correct. For 1921-29 the constituency was just 'Antrim', there is a template for the constituencies Template:Parliament of Northern Ireland, although the Antrim link for 1929 onwards is wrong.--Padraig 12:59, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a tricky one. It's best to have two articles. Maybe Antrim (1929-1973 NI Parliament constituency) or Antrim (Single member)? Although constituencies would have been officially titled "Armagh, Mid-Armagh" the commonly used name (and the one that we should use) in such cases would have been simply Mid Armagh. Also we have only 38 constituencies in the template at the moment, how do we amend it to include the other 14? Valenciano 11:49, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request comment on National Labor Federation[edit]

A page you created a while back now has a NPOV dispute. I think the National Labor Federation article (and other, related articles) could use an outside opinion on what the article needs fixed to merit removing the NPOV tag.Whosasking 19:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox UK place[edit]

Hello Warofdreams! Hope all is well!

Sadly I haven't completed a new map, but instead, a user has raised a query on this template's talk page about the mapping system. As you've been closely involved I thought it most appropriate to invite you to comment. -- Jza84 · (talk) 20:07, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are a good editor and a fine fellow, so I will simply say that I feared the discussion I attempted to start recently would go nowhere, but I felt a need to try. Probably a mistake - not for the first time I regret getting involved in affairs south of the Highland Line. I wish the purveyors of UK infobox place well. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 21:36, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Warofdreams. Can I ask why you keep moving Hillsborough, Sheffield to Hillsborough, South Yorkshire. You said in the summary that it was a "standard dab", could you point me to where this convention is laid out? I was hoping to have a look and see if there is any room to disobey the convention, which would seem to work fine for Stocksbridge or Chapeltown which are separate towns which happen to be in the Sheffield LA, but it seems daft to suggest that Hillsborough is a separate settlement within SY! L.J.Skinnerwot|I did 14:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for response mate. I can't say I like it, but I guess if we left to judgement whether a place was a suburb or a distinct settlement, you'd just get constant battles "Sutton is a suburb of Birmingham", "No it's not, it a town in its own right" etc. L.J.Skinnerwot|I did 14:31, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I've rolled back your unexplained revert. Please be advised that intentionally breaking links or otherwise unproductive edits are often classified as "vandalism". Tomertalk 01:40, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All apologies. You are correct. I did not read the talkpage of the template prior to editing, and did not realize the problems I was creating with my edit (if I'd looked at the title of the template I might have realized how far-reaching my edit was, alas, I did not). It was also improper of me to assume that your revert was potentially vandalism. I have a sometimes-unfortunate kneejerk dislike of unexplained edits, especially reverts (although not nearly as averse as my reaction to misrepresentative edit summaries), and worded my objection to you with the terseness resultant from that reaction. Someday, I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive my poorly-researched edit and my poorly-considered note to you above. Kindest regards, Tomertalk 08:23, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

District infobox[edit]

Hello again Warofdreams,

Once again, it's been raised that we need standardised Template:Infobox England district for the shire and metropolitan districts, boroughs, and cities across England (England having a seperate system of Local government in the United Kingdom). Many local government districts are using highly localised pink faux-infobox tables (Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale for example).

I wondered if you had any technical know-how which could put something together?? We have Template:Infobox UK place, Template:Infobox settlement and Template:Infobox London Borough as workable formats. Hope you can help, -- Jza84 · (talk) 21:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!
I've put together a basic Template:Infobox England district. It would benefit a overhall from someone more technically minded than myself, and I thought that could be yourself (!). Interested in giving it a tune-up? -- Jza84 · (talk) 23:20, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template causing deletion tag on your Sandbox[edit]

Hi there. I adjusted Template:Infobox England district‎ so that it no longer shows your Sandbox as a candidate for speedy deletion - the template itself was nominated for speedy-deletion, but the template's author was likely not aware that he needed to add <noinclude> to the template to prevent pages that were using that template from also showing up as deletion candidates.

In other words, your sandbox is safe. :) Just wanted to let you know in case there was any confusion. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 20:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding new admins to WP:LA[edit]

Hi - I'm running a bot every day that updates WP:LA according to special:listusers/sysop, so edits like this really aren't necessary. You're welcome to continue adding newly promoted admins, but the bot will do it the next time I run it (and, if you mess up the alphabetization, or forget, or anything else, the bot will "fix" it). -- Rick Block (talk) 04:11, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

I just have some general questions. I don't want you to think I am trying to impose, so feel free not to answer should you choose. I am asking you because you are admin and buerocrat, and have been here almost since wikipedia was originally created. I have done quite a bit on here as far as learning. However there are a few things I am confused with. So I wanted to ask someone some questions to see if I can learn even more. You made admin, then a year later buerocrat. I was wondering when you will make it to steward, or whatever else is available, here are the questions I have. You don't have to answer, I am just wondering about some of these.

  1. There are multiple access levels (administrators, bureacrats, oversights, checkusers, stewards, and developers). I know developers are only people who work "on" the software. What is the highest level out of the other's a standard wikipedian can achieve. For example, you are administrator and bureacrat. Also anyone else who is bureacrat is also administrator. Is there a chance that you or another bureacrat (through just being on wikipedia for a long time and remaining on good terms with the community) be able to work there way up to oversight, then checkusers, then stewards. Or is there a certain level that is cut off from the rest through specific procedures. I have researched this and i know you do an admin request to become admin. Then after substantial time you can perform a request for bureacrat. At this stage you have the SAME responsibilities and abilities as admin, but the bureacrat setting is flagged, and you are then able to perform there tasks. Are the ones after that the same way. Is it possible for a standard wikipedian to be admin, bureacrat, oversight, checkuser, and steward (which each one being independing of the other like admin and bureacrat are), Involved question, but I had to explain what I was wondering about? I asked this as using Access Levels as a reference.
  2. I know what need's to be done to get to admin, and then bureacrat. Beyond that (if anymore can be achieved), what should be kept in mind for someone hoping (by setting goals) to achieve whatever "maximum" user level available? I asked this as using Access Levels as a reference.
  3. When the policies (all throughout) speak about "in-universe" perspective, and talk about not typing fictional work like you are in the game and/or fictional world. Does this mean the creation of pure fictional topics should be avoided. Or that they should be written from 2 perspectives (one explaining the plot line, characters, or whatever else), and another from there physical, emotional, sociological, and otherwise implications in a real world scenario. To further explain this question I have noticed a lot of articles being deleted (purely) based on the fact that they are from a fictional perspective and hold no standard value aside from people who are purely involved in that fictional work. Is this a pure grounds for deletion, or are there general things that can be done when writing a fictional based article to make it "in policy"?
  4. I see a lot of administrators that are open for recall, and/or being pulled in for arbitration. What basic things can an administrator do to avoid being pulled into arbitration. Are there any informational articles available on wikipedia to help someone after they become an administrator, buerocrat, or whatever other level can be achieved, without making mistakes?

I had a few more questions but I don't want to flood them, I need to learn a little at a time. If you choose not to, do not want to answer these questions I will understand. I am making a sandbox under my user namespace so I have an archive of these questions in case I need to replicate them somewhere else. If there is a good place for me to list these, please tell me where the best place would be. Thanks. businessman332211 16:30, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Ireland 'wards'[edit]

NI doesn't use 'wards' for electoral purposes - it uses what are called 'District Electoral Areas' (DEAs) which are multi-member groupings of wards. So Belfast for example has 9 DEAs or 51 wards. Unfortunately the press have a habit of incorrectly referring to wards when speaking of NI elections. Other than that, just want to say: good work on NI elections related articles! Valenciano 10:16, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you can assist with above. Recently I created the article translating it directly from the Catalan and Spanish articles to start with. Unfortunately another editor took offense and despite my requests to discuss it, continued removing sourced material and the result was an edit war and the freezing of the article for a fortnight. As it happens I tend to agree that the article as currently frozen is biased against the subject and in order to rectify that, I have proposed additions on the articles talk page which will balance out the current content. I believe that those changes would make the article a little more balanced and this is important with the Valencia United Left selection coming up. Valenciano 21:05, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UK place infobox (again!)[edit]

Hello again! Just a note that I've uploaded new version of Image:Edinburgh_outline_map.png, not just to standardised the pantones, but also because the previous version missed the southwest of the Edinburgh city limits.

However (!)...... it's going to need a recalibration sorry. I'd help, but as a designer, that kind of thing is really beyond my mortal capability. Hope you can help, -- Jza84 · (talk) 13:29, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem... I've just read my message I left for you and can't believe how poor my grammar was! Not good, but at least you deciphered it!.... Anyway, you will be pleased to know I'm working on a Devon map. Should be ready sometime tomorrow. Thanks again though, I for one really appreciate your support with all this, -- Jza84 · (talk) 02:48, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And now I've completed it.... found at Image:Devon_outline_map_with_UK.png. Hope you can be of aid in helping Devon?.... what next.... maybe, County Durham or West Sussex I think. Hopefully I can get these done today. Joy, -- Jza84 · (talk) 15:26, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup! Image:Durham outline map with UK.png - County Durham done. I need a break!.... hopefully I'll get West Sussex and/or Norfolk done next. -- Jza84 · (talk) 17:29, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, I have been able to squeeze in some time for a Image:Norfolk outline map with UK.png too! Hope this is well recieved! No probs if you can't calibrate these all at once, there is no rush on my part, honest! -- Jza84 · (talk) 19:48, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bloody hell! You don't mess about do you!... I'm just in the middle of a West Sussex map (I must get these done!). Norfolk looks good, but there seems to be a problem with Devon, if say, you look at Paignton. Not sure if it's temporary though as you go about sorting it! Thanks again though, -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was reluctant to add the UK locator for Edinburgh (you know how it is!). I'll add it and be bold (certainly the Outer Hebrides have one). Lundy was just off the map I'm afraid, although I have drawn a map for Lundy before now - at the Lundy article!.... sorry about Paignton - it was just bad luck I looked at that article (randomly) first! -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:27, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the calibration; I can't say it enough. In reply to your points, it's a truly massive task to take on! And no matter how many barnstars one gets, it is a pretty thankless task for the amount of hours you have to put in I have to say! Once I've done England I would love nothing more than to do Scotland and Wales too (NI has a country wide map). I would however have to seek some support with production, as it is just too big a task for me!... not to mention for you, who does the hard work!
I'm a unionist, it's no secret (I publish it proudly infact!), but I can see there being greater support for a Scotland only locator map. Trouble is, there is no suitable map to append. I'd like to draw up a new Scotland map (akin to the NI one seen at Belfast), but again, it's all work adding up! -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:59, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello once again! I've been able to produce Image:West Sussex outline map with UK.png this evening. Only 9 counties left! -- Jza84 · (talk) 00:29, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes progress is good! I just feel that a final push will relieve me (and you!!) of this burden once and for all for England! That said, I've just finished a Image:Wiltshire outline map with UK.png! Not sure which to do next, I think East Sussex is the largest remaining county in terms of population, which is how I've roughly prioritised the maps during the last.... three seasons!
Any ideas yet how to get the Stockton borough pointing between County Durham and North Yorkshire? I could produce a map specifically for the borough, though think it'd be a shame if we didn't solve the challenge. -- Jza84 · (talk) 18:55, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem about the West Sussex link - it's easily overlooked. I've just completed a Image:Cambridgeshire outline map with UK.png! If all goes well, I envisage completing England within about 7-14 days - and probably closer to 7! I'm not sure what you have in mind for the system overhall to point to Stockton acurately, but sure sounds good! -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:57, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite jealous that you have been able to get a break away for two weeks! However, I think you deserve this. I will try to get the last remaining counties done within the next few days (though it'll be a challenge!). In the meantime, I've been lucky enough to create a Image:Oxfordshire outline map with UK.png! Hope you can work your magic! Not far off now! -- Jza84 · (talk) 17:04, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again! I'm sorry for the delay.... I've had a disaster and ruined my PC (which ironically coincided with a planned WikiBreak). I've bought a new one, which runs on Vista - which makes pages look great - but locks out my "borrowed" Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software. I've also lost all the hard copies of the maps, so we're down to the public domain ones that I've uploaded for now. I know, terrible; I intended to back it all up within the next week or so too.
I will need some additional time now to employ my skills on Inkscape and GIMPshop - which are the open source equivalents of what I've been using, as well as gather all my source material again. It's really annoyed me as we were making excellent progress, although on the bright side you were due to take a vacation which may give us the time we need now! Hope all is well, -- Jza84 · (talk) 02:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New wave[edit]

Hello again! I hope you had a great break from Wikipedia. I've been struggling getting hold of, and then working out how to use Creative Suite 3 - but I think I've finally cracked it, so to speak.

Anyway, I've put together a new Image:East Sussex outline map with UK.png. It may not be as accurate as previous maps (though it seems to be from a cursory check) as I've lost alot of my source material I had on hard-disk, but I think it'll be OK.

Would you be interested in taking a look at the calibration for this? I hope so! -- Jza84 · (talk) 17:19, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the calibration. Due to the break I forgot to put any motorways into the East Sussex map, which is rather stupid of me. I will aim to fix this. I'm currently working on a Suffolk map. Thanks again, -- Jza84 · (talk) 22:58, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with some of the disambiguation. Certainly some of these need to be changed... On another note, I have been wondering about the Edinburgh article. As a capital, it doesn't seem right that it uses the Edinburgh council area local map to point where it is - I would expect a Scotland or UK map. Glasgow seems to manage it somehow. Is there a way to hardcode it do you know? -- Jza84 · (talk) 23:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also.... and this is a big also.... would it be possible to hardcode an image (not a location map) if a certain "offical name" is input? I'm thinking Saddleworth, where I've had to improvise, but lost the ability to put a real image into the infobox. Would that be a massive task? Edinburgh and Saddlworth seem to be the only two problem areas, Saddleworth being a civil parish, but not a settlement, and a parish almost at the size of a local government district. -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No probs about the above requests. Your logic appears perfectly reasonable. On the motorways of East Sussex - there are none! Probably why I thought I'd missed them. In the meantime, I've created a Image:Suffolk_outline_map_with_UK.png (no motorways), leaving me with just four counties on England left! I might even do a map of Wales over Xmas if I get these done! Hope you can get Suffolk up and running. -- Jza84 · (talk) 02:34, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, I hope you had a great Christmas and are about to have an even greater New Year! Although I'm not making as much progress as I had liked, I have just completed a Image:Shropshire outline map with UK.png and was wondering if you'd be able to work your magic with this one?

Also, there's been a call [1] for Durham/N. Yorks to be looked into - any plans to tackle this? I'd be more than willing to help if it's a vast task you had in mind. I heop all is well, -- Jza84 · (talk) 02:21, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Politics[edit]

Firstly thanks for the third opinion on the Navarro article. Secondly I wonder if you can help with setting up a template/infobox? I've already had a look on wp:template but can't work out what I'd need to do. Recently I've started creating articles on Spanish Parliamentary constituencies cf [2] and feel that the articles would be improved by a box at the bottom listing all of them, similar to what we have at the bottom of Belfast Central (Northern Ireland Parliament constituency). Is it possible that you could create that or at least point me to someone who could? The list of provinces which the constituencies are based on is here [3] Thanks, Valenciano (talk) 20:38, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Counties[edit]

Hi! WoD!, I've just been correcting a couple of wikilinks that seem to have changed, that are on my watchpages. Taking a deeper look I note that User:MRSC:MRSC has used Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser to change all references of Historic County to Counties of the United Kingdom. Many of these are in infoboxes so will redirect people selecting 'Historic County' for info to the wrong article - when they really require Historic counties of England. Additionally Category entries have been changed, which now mess up the sorting information such as Category:People from Yorkshire, Category:Hill forts in England which are advised as 'Sorted by Historic County'. Also templates such as Template:User British Counties Aka: (This user is an advocate of traditional counties). I am concerned that there may be another 2006 style Traditional Counties war about to kick off, which is preferably well avoided! Richard Harvey Richard Harvey (talk) 18:56, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I may be so rude as to respond here... I fully support this change by User:MRSC. It is (or rather was) an undue English bias to have "historic county" directed to the Historic counties of England; Wales, Scotland and Ireland also have "historic counties". If users must link according historic county, they should pipe it to the relevant article. Indeed Historic county and traditional county (a neologism) were redirect pages to Counties of the United Kingdom anyway. Valencia Metro[edit]

Hello, I wonder if you can assist me again. Recently a user changed this page (which was previously about the Spanish metro) to a dab page due to the existence of an identically named system in the Venezuelan city. This was fair enough but now the previous article history is there [4] when it should be part of the article. Valenciano (talk) 19:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article map request[edit]

Hey Warofdreams, I've been directed here by another user (Jza84) at the Greater Manchester WikiProject, who says you are particularly skilled at producing maps for regions in the northern part of England, or anywhere else for that matter. An article I've been substantially editing, Grade I listed buildings in Manchester, which has received a sort of peer review on the project talk page and a proper one at peer review, both of which have suggested using a map for the locations of listed buildings in questions. I would be very grateful, as would others in the project, if you would be able to create these locations on map. But if not, then no worries. Thank you for your time. Regards, Rt. 14:23, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this may be a miscommunication- probably on my part (sorry!). I was trying to suggest that Image:Map of Manchester.png be made into a Template:Location map. Sorry for the confusion (oh and thanks for Suffolk - I'm onto the next county as we speak!). -- Jza84 · (talk) 00:34, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, as above. :) Rt. 14:38, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mayors[edit]

Ref this, I've made a request to one Council a min ago. When I get the info, I intend to reference it as Freedom of Information disclosure, available on request from the Council. If people think this is OR, which I don't think it is, I'll ask if they can publish this on their website, which I don't expect to be received well in honesty! If this proves a success, I'll work my way through the councils.Traditional unionist (talk) 21:22, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Henderson[edit]

You know, his common name is perhaps an oddity. I would never dream of calling him anything other than Captain Henderson when talking to him, also, you never see his name written as Bill Henderson, always O W J Henderson.Traditional unionist (talk) 01:51, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having read Jnr's book, I'd guess that Norman Porter is very much dead. Autin Ardill was still a UUC delegate a couple of years ago, and if he'd died I'd have heard (he was one of the only challengers to Molyneaux in the 1979 leadership election). I'll make inquiries about Herbie Kirk.Traditional unionist (talk) 02:58, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well done on your list of Stormont MPs, Warofdreams, I'll try to create a few articles on the red-links! --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 12:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The old man reckons Kirk died a few years ago.Traditional unionist (talk) 14:05, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I imagine that's true. He'd be ancient. If one can access the News Letter archives I'm sure they would've run an obituary. --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 14:07, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On a related note, do any of you know what happened to the proposed WP:Unionism project that was mentioned a few months ago? A lot of the MPs in question would fall within the scope of that. Valenciano (talk) 11:54, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think we're waiting for the required number of signatories. --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 12:34, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You already have enough signatories for that to proceed.--Padraig (talk) 02:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't it ten?Traditional unionist (talk) 02:11, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thats what I initialy thought as well, but you only need between 7-10 to proceed, last time I looked I think it had 7.--Padraig (talk) 02:14, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actualy it 5-10 signatories If your project gains support from 5-10 active Wikipedians, it could probably benefit from the organisation boost of having a proper page. Remove it from this list and follow the instructions for creating new projects. If you want to start a page before you have 5-10 active Wikipedians, consider setting up the page on a subpage of your user page until it is active, while leaving the posting here with a link to the user page. from here, so theres nothing to stop it goingahead.--Padraig (talk) 02:30, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query On 28 December, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Tommy Herron, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

'Gayness' of Attercliffe[edit]

Having done some quick Googling into how 'gay' Attercliffe is I agree that the comment you reverted to is probably right. However I would say that is probably the case that it is less 'gay' now than it was in the 80s and 90s due to the fact that there is more acceptance of 'gayness' in the mainstream venues in the centre, thus less need to ghetto-ise. This is based on my reading of various forum posts, I've not found any other sources that would be more wiki-palatable. There currently only appears to be one venue that actively advertises itself as 'gay', Club Xes.

(I've used 'gay' rather than LGBT as I hate the phrase, and I'm not convinced that the component parts are any closer to one another than to heterosexuality or any one of many other sexualities)

I'm also not convinced about the Soho comment, so far I've only found to references to it (apart from wiki and wiki-scrapers, one says it is and one says its not! Talltim (talk) 16:43, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you know of more venues I'm happy to leave it as is then. The forum post also seemed to imply that there was an LGBT ;-) community (i.e. high number of houses with LGBT owners) as well as clubs, in the 80s, but I doubt its the sort of thing that you could ever quantify. The question is, is it any more than LGBT the centre of Sheffield? Strange the way words work, to me 'Gay' covers men and women and the same sex part of being bisexual! Talltim (talk) 16:56, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A question - and this time, it doesn't violate WP:MYSPACE[edit]

Warofdreams, when a list is assesed to be featured, it is checked for references. What kind of references are needed for a list to be featured? Also, are images necessary for a list to be featured? Maser (Talk!) 05:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance. :) Maser (Talk!) 05:08, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
