Hello, I am the author of the article about the Faculty of Science. You have marked my reference as a ‘non-primary source needed’. But there is written that ‘Primary sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia, but only with care, because it is easy to misuse them.’ on the linked page. I would find a faculty website as a reliable source for its organizational structure. Martin Tauchman (talk) 15:04, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've added refs and deprodded this. If you still disagree, take it to AfD, but IMHO a Kirkus review, a Booklist review, and a bestseller on The New York Times is sufficient for me to mark this as reviewed. If I made a mistake let me know, thanks! VickKiang (talk) 03:30, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I noted your request for independent sources to this new page with a request to delete the page if sources aren't added. I have added quite a few secondary sources to each software tool in the main list and primary sources to the legacy list. Is this sufficient for you? Early end of the backlog drive[edit]

A few days ago, new page patrollers got the backlog to zero. Due to the unprecedented success of the backlog drive, it will be ending early—at the end of 24 October, or in approximately two hours.

Barnstars will be awarded as soon as the coords can tally the results. Streak awards will be allocated based on the first three weeks of the drive, with the last three days being counted as part of week three.

Great work everyone! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Battles list of Khalid[edit]

You recently rejected Draft:Military Career of Khalid ibn al Waleed on the premise of it being better to improve the already existing article. If you observe the edit history of the page, me and other editors have already attempted to do this but the changes have been reverted. No clear reason has been given. Secondly, the page Military career of Napoleon Bonaparte exists alongside the main article on Napoleon. YarmoukQadisiyah (talk) 09:50, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've marked Mount Ridley College, which you patrolled, as unreviewed. I'm afraid I have to disagree that this meets WP:NSCHOOL. I found routine announcements on covid, 1, 2, coverage from a local tabloid, 1, 2, 3, which might not be RS, a routine video, and another two hits mention. Do you think this meets WP:NSCHOOL? Many thanks! VickKiang (talk) 21:58, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note that after another user PRODed this I deprodded and AfDed (also made an embarassing mistake- in an earlier revision I meant to type AfDed but wrote PRODed instead...) Many thanks! VickKiang (talk) 02:25, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Italics on Adam's Bridge article[edit]

Hi Dan, can I ask why you removed the italics I added into the non-English name Rama Setu (which is just "Rama's Bridge" in Sanskrit, Tamil and Sinhalese)?

MOS:FOREIGNITALIC specifies italics for non-English words (except for those which have found everyday use in English, such as Gestapo, sumarai and esprit de corps) and MOS:FOREIGN recommends the use of a {{lang}} template, which automatically adds italics. Hello, Dan,

Any time you see a draft with any version of the name, Vikram Singh Meena, please report them to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Baba1031/Archive. Kothu roti[edit]

Please stop reverting my edits on this page - I've corrected the lead and some sources and your reverts are disruptive. The original and common name of the dish is kothu roti. It is also commonly misspelled as kottu by some sources. Better to keep it at its original name. EelamStyleZ (talk) 07:12, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see that saner heads have prevailed and that the article has been returned correctly to Kottu. As previously stated, where is your evidence that Kottu is misspelt - as without referencing it appears to be your own original research. Dan arndt (talk) 04:05, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I'm trying to get a WIKI page approved for an album by Michael Cretu and his mate Thiers. I've added as many references as possible to this submission but it's an old album from 1988 and websites with references are hard to find. I feel I've added enough on here, given that his previous two albums have no references at all on their respective pages. I hope this can be approved, as it's the last album he did before moving to the legendary Enigma output. Thanks for your time, I would appreciate some help or pointers, Curtis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Belle_Epoque_(album)

I have provided numerous references now, both from independent and non-independent references. I have ensured these references highlight exactly what they are supporting in the text. You have discredited a reference for being a 'passing comment' about the expo (The Hour - reference), however it is literally just supporting the notion that the event hosts live music. Within the reference it quotes how a band will be playing at the event and lists the dates it will do so. It then goes further into elaborating exactly what the band play and therefore how it links to the events. How in any way is this not supporting the text written? I don't think a reference could be more specific, even if it is an article that only mentions the event once. It does not need to be an article solely based on the event to support the written text.

Request on 12:11:00, 4 January 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Vardyhero[edit]

Further to previous, I urge you to look into other Wikipedia pages of similar nature that I have largely followed in order to create a suitable text (it must be said mine adds more substance to the pages than these even with more references...)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midwest_Gaming_Classic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retropalooza https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_On_Expo

All of these use primary references largely as their only sources - and failing that the sources are non-accessible which defeats the purpose of references in general. They all have large bulks of unsupported text (unlike my article) which in spite of this achieved publication.

It is unreasonable to comment on every single primary reference suggesting it must include a secondary reference, when some of the statements are regarding the history of the event. The event page itself is therefore home to the most legitimate source of information available on such matters; and otherwise is impossible to reference as you aren't going to find an article that exclusively comments on the dates, or venues of the event.

Please do take this into account, or at very least review these other pages as it is entirely unreasonable to suggest this article is not up to the quality of those aforementioned above.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback and advice that my entry will be deleted. I modelled this first article on the Universal Theatre and Workshop, but only have two main citations. Yesterday one of the Wikipedia reviewers said that as far as they were concerned, the article would meet the notability requirements, but it may be unclear to other people as they won't have access to the images of the original articles. He/She said that if it ends up in a deletion discussion, I need be prepared for the possibility of needing to share the dropbox link with the discussion participants. I immediately added these Dropbox links to the article. The images on these links are from the State Library of Victoria's microfiche newspaper collection. Newspapers from the 1970s haven't yet been digitised by Trove. I will admit that the group is an historic anomaly. There are some other obscure groups such the Tanelorn Music Festival; or the commune movement in Victoria during the 1970s etc (which have all now disappeared without a trace) and their details I have donated to the State Library for safekeeping as there are no citations. However, I thought this group might pass Wikipedia's standard and was interesting enough to place on the public record. In the absence of any further citations, is there anything else I can do?

Di Jones Estate Agents[edit]

Hi Dan. I was approached last year by someone who works for Di Jones Estate Agents. They had their page deleted. They asked me on my talk page to help out with fixing the problem. I couldn't find a copy of what used to be there so I have written a page that I think covers off the basics. They contacted me because I have edited some other Australian real estate related articles. I wrote a fair bit about LJ Hooker (both the man and the company) a few years ago and they both seemed deserving of seperate articles. In this case Di Jones (the person) is a fairly interesting and the company effectively seem to be following her principals after her death but I can't see that there should be two seperate articles. One very frustrating thing in researching the article is that even though both the person and the company we extremely high profile in the print media in the 1990's and early 2000's there is almost no record of those articles on Trove etc. It was much easier to research LJ Hooker with most of their interesting history occurring before 1990. In any even I imagine the Di Jones article can be improved upon in the future when this information isn't behind expensive paywalls. Let me know what you think! Agreed[edit]

I agree Apple Music and Spotify don't make someone notable. My little brother has a Spotify, he's trying to become notable, but not quite there yet. I do believe Stephanie Carlisi has enough articles, new stories, music, novels, poems, story wrights, and more, to consider her notable though. I was composing her page, but stopped because she told me to. I appreciate your thoughts on this. I'm brand new to Wiki, that's why I asked for someone to view and approve the page. I wanted more opinions before I put something killer together, only for it to be taken down. JBFree88 (talk) 04:03, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I only put Apple music and Spotify as sources because that's where I got her discography info from. Is that typically unneeded to cite? Again, I'm new, so just trying to figure things out. JBFree88 (talk) 04:05, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing the article. This person came up with a concept new to India, encouraging women entrepreneurs with first of its kind Incubator for women-led startups.

I have cited independent sources just enough to validate the content of the article. Expecting the reviewer to check other sources. I can also provide more.

I believe this article should be public for two reasons:

  1. She is widely recognized for her contribution to encouraging rural women
  2. For originating the concept of incubator for women-led startups

Draft:History of Hartlepool United F.C. - Advice[edit]

Hello, I see that you recently declined the Draft:History of Hartlepool United F.C. because: "the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Hartlepool United F.C. instead".

I was wondering if I could gain some advice on next steps from you. For context, I added a message to Talk:Hartlepool United F.C. but didn't receive any replies. My view was that the history section in the mainspace article - Hartlepool United F.C. had made the article too bloated because it was approx 5,500 words. I thought it would be best to move this section onto a separate article (the draft) and then replace it with a 1,500 word section instead which I've got saved in my Sandbox ready for publication. I think this new section would be preferable as an initial intro to the topic for readers and would be more in line with similar articles. Do you think this is the right thing to do/how should I go about this? Michaeldble (talk) 13:08, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have added further reliable sources and content to improve the declined https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Drmangleshbjp&oldid=1156723901 . I do pray it meets your standards this time, so I can move on to other work on wiki.

I appreciate you and your time though in helping me to get better. But the article I am creating is of a politician who recently won the Mayoral seat of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh Municipal corporation election 2023 in India. So I would like you to approve my article if you think its suitable for Wikipedia.

Thank You. Jagriti.sri (talk) 09:06, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on what I did with User:Swinginginair/sandbox[edit]

I declined this article as you moved it to draftspace – it doesn't really have a title that would work in draftspace, given its history signals that it was supposed to be a rework for a section of an article already in mainspace (which was submitted, for some reason). I've cleared that up – I also moved it back to the sandbox, as the title you moved it to would not work with the content of the article (even though the first words were a name, they were a name of someone who was barely relevant; it should have been at a title like British revival because that's what the section it was reworking was named, but even then, I think it's better left in userspace as a sandbox).

Also, as for the above notice, I'm probably going to undraftify it again unless you have a complaint. Cheers! Skarmory (talk • contribs) 05:52, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Skarmory, I'd have to agree with you that this is a very confused draft. I'm glad you think that you are able to reconcile where the information should best be located. I'm presuming that is History of Lindy Hop#British revival. Thanks for giving me the heads up. Dan arndt (talk) 06:29, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Juan de Valladolid draftification[edit]

Hey! I already undraftified this article one time today, I'm not sure if I'm getting into move warring territory if I do it again, but I'm pretty sure it got re-added to the NPP queue because it got draftified after being in mainspace for 18 years. It should be taken to AFD instead of being draftified – I'd undo the draftification, but I don't have AFCH rights at the moment (though a restoring of the original revision might work, not sure), and I'd rather not get remotely into move-warring complaints.

Can you undo the draftification as such? It's against the enacted policy at WP:DRAFTIFY (2d, though you probably already know this and just missed the age of the article). I have no complaints about it being taken to AFD instead if you want to do that and propose draftification there (or just propose deletion), just pointing out this should not be draftified per policy. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 09:40, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I actually do have AFCH rights, they were approved ~1.5 hours before this message was sent and I didn't see them. I don't think accepting it through AFCH would be the best route back to mainspace, though, but I can at least undo the draftification myself if you give the okay. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 10:28, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Skarmory, when I draftified it I didn't check the article's history. If you want to revert and put it to AfD I wouldn't have a problem. Dan arndt (talk) 06:32, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's up at AFD now, if you want to chip in. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 07:11, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 05:18, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Crosman 150[edit]

Well, unfortunately the only semi-scholarly hard-print publication that MIGHT have included the Crosman 150 was published in 1955, perfectly timed to MISS the existence of the pistol in question. The PyramidAir blog and the Vintage Airguns Gallery Forum are the two places where reliable information about the Crosman 150 can be found, so that's why those unacceptable references are my references. It's a damn shame that Wikipedia doesn't try to emulate the glorious 11th Edition Britannica and allow original research. Just imagine what the world would be like if instead of Lord Rayleigh's articles in the Britannica we had to rely on Wikipedia's Nazism at the turn of the 19th century. 2600:1700:6AE5:2510:0:0:0:24 (talk) 15:50, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fremantle Arts Centre[edit]

An editor has requested that Fremantle Arts Centre (organisation) be moved to Fremantle Arts Centre, which may be of interest to you. You are invited to participate in the move discussion. Skyerise (talk) 14:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

September 2023[edit]

Information icon Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did at Fremantle Arts Centre. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you think that the page should be deleted, please read Wikipedia:How to delete a page. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Skyerise (talk) 13:44, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's new content, not a fork, not copied from anywhere, and I spent over an hour researching and writing it. If you think it should be deleted, take it to AfD. The move discussion is likely to run for a month. AfD will be done in a week. It is NOT CORRECT to blank new content, even if you think it interferes with a move discussion. It doesn't. Move discussions can propose alternate titles and merges, so just respond there. Skyerise (talk) 13:51, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dan arndt: no, I assumed that reasonable editors would understand that the move discussion could still continue and yield a result that would then be implemented and that it didn't interfere with that discussion at all. I've recently been a part of a discussion where just that happened, and nobody overreacted or start blanking new content. Skyerise (talk) 14:10, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Skyerise:, thats because you considered it an uncontraversial move. Despite me warning you and advising you to take it to a request to move discussion, you ignored my advice and acted contary to established Wikipedia guidelines. Your actions have been disruptive and aggressive. Dan arndt (talk) 14:17, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, well now I've taken your advise and started a move discussion. Are you going to be satisfied with that and stop attacking me? Skyerise (talk) 14:19, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Skyerise:, I have never attacked you. I have tried to be fair and reasonable - allowing you the opportunity to correct your own actions & follow the accepted processes. Dan arndt (talk) 14:22, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Blanking new content rather than letting it be discussed in a discussion that can resolve all matters of moving, splitting, and merging, which frequently happens in move discussions, sure feels like an attack to me. Especially when you could simply have moved it instead of making me recreate it at a new title. Skyerise (talk) 14:27, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer to let others own their mistakes and correct them accordingly. Dan arndt (talk) 14:52, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dan arndt Thank you for cleaning up my draft. Can I ask you to accept the draft and move it mainspace. Thanks again. 8d1t0r (talk) 03:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@8d1t0r: at this stage I am not overly convinced that the individual is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. A number of the references are interviews with Desai, which are primary sources and some of the information is unreferenced (potential original research). Dan arndt (talk) 04:38, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I understand. I will clean it out and propose for deletion. Thank you. 8d1t0r (talk) 04:46, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@8d1t0r:, I wasn't suggesting that it be deleted - just stating what my thoughts were. Another reviewer may think differently to me. I would leave the draft and add any additional supporting references if you can find them. Dan arndt (talk) 04:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 04:00:16, 11 September 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Dracydni[edit]

My recent submission 1928 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings has been rejected. I do not understand why.

I am simply trying to add to the body of knowledge already in Wikipedia for football standings for this same conference. Identical templates already exist for the following seasons:

1931 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1932 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1933 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1934 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1935 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1936 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1937 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1938 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1939 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1940 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1941 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1942 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1945 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings 1946 Indiana Intercollegiate Conference football standings

Why are these years worthy of Wikipedia and 1928 is not? The Indiana Intercollegiate Conference had its first football season in 1923, and my goal is to build upon the work of others to fill in the years 1923 through 1930.

Thank you for your consideration.

Regarding comment on Draft:Diamonds (Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen album)[edit]

Hi, I would just like to ask how I should source the part about Milkavelli's involvement in Twisted? While there is hard evidence of the track's existence with his part, official sources have opted to omit that information entirely and do not touch on it. I would suspect that it is at least in part due to his various controversies since, but Genius ends up being the best source that isn't just linking the track itself from Soundcloud or dependent on even more unreliable sources such as social media posts.

Also, I haven't sourced Twitter but the documentary the estate released on the album on YouTube can be used to confirm the tweets and should pass if my understanding of the WP:VIDEOLINK graph is correct. OfficialNikkiMusic (talk) 08:36, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is in reference to the review of the DICONDE article, for containing copyrighted material. It should be noted that nothing in the source was directly copied into the article, and instead all content is using original wording. It can be seen that there is content overlap, but that is because (1) the source is referenced as a source in the article and (2) the historical facts referenced are the same and there are multiple sources to those facts. It is unclear how to resolve the issue. Please reply with recommended action to resolve the issue.

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023[edit]

Hello Dan arndt,

New Page Review queue December 2022
Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Reminders
  • Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
  • There is live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
  • Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
  • If you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.
  • To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023[edit]

Hello Dan arndt,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Draft:Baris Tursun 2[edit]

Hi, I saw that you declined Draft:Baris Tursun 2 as a duplicate of Draft:Baris Tursun, which it indeed is. However, what you might not have noticed is that the author of the earlier draft hasn't edited it for almost six months, and has most likely abandoned it, hence I advised the author of the new draft to continue creating their version, and if they get it to an acceptable state first, then it will be accepted while the other will just eventually get G13'd. I noticed that you're saying the author should merge the drafts and resubmit the earlier one – why do you think that's better than continuing to develop them separately? Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:07, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I am the contributor and I will edit the source make it more researchable and match wiki style. Hellobenson (talk) 16:00, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dan arndt. I noticed that you declined this draft almost eight months ago. I am curious about your opinion of 2023 Australia Cup, which seems to be similar in content though much improved. Given the similar portions of both, should they be merged to preserve the edit history or would it be okay to leave it be and let the draft be marked by WP:G13 on the 29th or later? --Super Goku V (talk) 10:47, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol newsletter[edit]

Hello Dan arndt,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Draft: Noah Patrick Ylagan[edit]

Hi Dan, Thanks for reviewing my page. I'm not sure what other things I can elaborate on. I did notice you believe this to be an autobiography. I am Noah's dad, he actually doesn't know anything about this. I'm the one that promotes the accomplishments of my son. This would consolidate all the google searches to one article. This will just help him for the future, as a head coach. I've seen other articles on sports athletes, I've tried to write the article very basic. I was not trying to boast his accomplishments, trying to be objective. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rick Ylagan Rpylagan (talk) 15:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dan,
I've added the COI template, and added me to the referece. Is there anything else that needs to be stated that I have stayed impartial.
The main reason for creating this article for my son, is for a place holder for his "varifiable" accomplishment, if he eventually coaches
and wins a Superbowl.

When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 07:33, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Frederick Saunders (civil servant), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Dan arndt (talk) 03:53, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dan, I could use your help[edit]

I've been a DJ for 33 years. I'm referenced in more than a few Wikipedia articles. But I've never successfully created an entry in the world's most important repository of knowledge. You recently rejected a submission. Do you have any guidance?

Thank you.

Hi. I noticed you put my list up for deletion. I would like to know why the other lists of villages in Ukraine have not been put for deletion, but this has. Thanks, Wikieditor019 (Talk to me) 14:39, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Draftifications[edit]

Hello, Dan,

I just came across two articles that you moved to Draft space, mainly because doing this created some broken redirects in main space. This is fairly common as the draftification tools we use do not alert editors to possible main space redirects that get broken. However, both of these articles had already been draftified before, one of them happened months ago and the other was draftified during the past week. Articles aren't supposed to be moved to Draft space unless they are recently created and haven't been draftified before (unless the draftification is the result of an AFD closure) so please check out the page history before you decide to move an article to Draft space. If it has already been draftified, seek another solution like improving the article yourself, tagging the article to point out existing problems or, if the article is just unsuitable for main space, pursuing one of deletion options that exist that might be appropriate (depending on why the article is unsaveable).

I come across your work on a daily basis so I know how much you contribute to this project so thank you for that, it's appreciated! Liz Read! Talk! 20:12, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TECC article[edit]

I used as much as was available on the prior Dale Jackson Career Center page (which I changed to a redirect, only to see the entire article disappear). That article didn't have many references (and now since it is completely gone, I can't check to see what I may have missed), then there's not much I can do to improve mine outside of a couple of links to where the TECC lists what courses are at what campus. I will try to improve it further but given my starting point (which apparently met Wikipedia standards then) there's little I can do. Quidam65 (talk) 18:35, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Capitol Modern[edit]

Hello Dan arndt. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Capitol Modern, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Though this article has problems (is it signficantly different to Bishop Museum? Have the WP:COPYWITHIN issues been resolved?) https://www.destimap.com/index.php?act=attraction&a=Bishop-Museum%2C-Honolulu%2C-Hawaii%2C-United-States explicitly states "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". It would appear *that website* is itself re-using Wikipedia content without the required attribution . Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 09:10, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November Articles for creation backlog drive[edit]

Hello Dan arndt:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 2400 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:23, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to Join Wikipedia Asian Month 2023[edit]

You are receiving this message because you participated in the Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 as an organizer or editor.

Join the Wikipedia Asian Month 2023

Dear all,

The Wikipedia Asian Month 2023[1] is coming ! The campaign start within a flexible 30 days from November to December. Following with the changes of the rules made by last year, the wish to have more people get to know Asia and Asian related topic is the same! Click "Here" to Organize/Join a WAM Event.

1. Propose "Focus Theme" related to Asia !

If you are based somewhere in Asia, or have specific passion on an Asian topic, please propose your "Focus Theme" by October 25th. The WAM international team will select 5 themes. Please propose your focus theme through this link[2].

2. Enhancing existing articles can also count as part of campaign contribution.

Any edits, including creating new articles or adding new content to existing articles, over 3000 bytes in total would be able to get a reward. Last year, due to this change of rules, the Programs & Events Dashboard was suggested. However, according to community survey of 2022, Fountain Tool is still the best platform for tracking edit and points. You don’t need to create any Dashboard. For the tracking of editing existing article, the international team is currently designing a form. Will soon publish to the main page of WAM 2023.

3. More flexible campaign time

The contribution duration would remain 30days, but we extended the overall campaign timeline to 2 months. All organizers can decide when to start their WAM as long as the whole duration is within November 1st to December 31th. It means that you can participate in WAM based on the needs of your local community.

Timetable

  • October 1st, 2023 : Publish International Campaign Page of the Year
  • October 5th to 25th, 2023 : Call for focus themes of WAM 2023.
  • Before 29 October, 2023: Complete Registration [3] of Each language Wikipedia.
  • November 1st, UTC 00:00 to December 31th, UTC 00:00, 2023: Running the Campaign. (Find your local campaign for the actual event date.)
  • January 1st to March 15th, 2024: Auditing of each language Wikipedia.
  • March 30th, 2024: Deadline of reporting statistics and eligible editors to the International Team
  • April 1st to May 15th, 2024: The international team distributes Barnstars and Certificates to eligible editors of each event.

For your information, the main page of Wikipedia Asian Month is currently undertaking a reconstruction for archiving purpose. For the 2023 event please bookmarked this page. We hope you will enjoy Wikipedia Asian Month! If you have any inquiry, feel free to contact us by info@asianmonth.wiki [4]. We look forward to your participation.

Cheers!!!

November 2023 Spajić Cabinet Template[edit]

The reason I want to create a template is to reduce the bytes on the main article on Spajic's Cabinet by 3,959. The "list of cabinet members within the government" is indeed a template for Spajic's cabinet. A good reference is all the other exact templates made for other Montenegrin government cabinets such as Template:Abazović Cabinet or Template:Krivokapić Cabinet or Template:Marković Cabinet. So I ask kindly that you reconsider you decision, since my submission is a proper template like the other aforementioned templates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KnowledgeNinjas (talkcontribs) 17:03, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on the draft: Flux_Malaysia[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Flux_Malaysia

Dear @Dan_arndt,

I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to review my article, even though the outcome was less favorable than I had hoped. I would really like to get some insights if you do not mind sharing as I am new in publishing articles and after 3 months of efforts it is kind of disappointing that I could not get the article approved still.

I did have learned and improved but now stuck at the reference where i am not sure what is wrong as i did check notable regulations and reference guide and i cannot locate why it has been declined still.

One point about the reference is that as this is a new type of business in Malaysia so finding completely independent article on Flux is difficult but i did see some competitor's post has been approved even with not too much independent references which i am giving example below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carsome

This even got approved with their CEO interview while mine got rejected.

It will be very helpful if you can help in guiding where exactly to change and get the article approve to publish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AfnanzafarBD (talkcontribs) 09:21, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article Javier Milei already exists, and has grown very large. In order to keep expanding on these topics, this should now be spin-out into its own article. Can you explain the page move? Pedantic Aristotle (talk) 13:32, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Noted. Thanks! I will look for more source materials as support, but Ms. Rawlinson was indeed a rather mysterious figure -- Despite her impact on U.S. philatelic history (the Presidential Issue is a very popular series after all) there does not seem to be much information available, as noted by the NPS article I cited.

That Barron Trump Draft you declined...[edit]

I didn't quite understand the initial edit summary of the creator/submitter - see [1] where SouthParkFan2006 said "pasting content from old revision of barron trump article (credit to Anon9088)" (shouldn't they have linked to the actual content?) but then I found the version that they were referring to. A couple of things... 1)I find it odd that a new editor would find a version from 2017 and resurrect that content. and 2) Has any reliable source claimed that Barron Trump is somehow a "television personality" because he appeared on television a handful of times. I mean, really... the most recent appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show was in 2011 and The Apprentice appearances were in 2008. Also, I've been poking around WP and found this SPI. The creator of the initial 2015 Barron Trump article - OpusDayNotDei - is a blocked sockpuppet of Kbabej. It sure makes me wonder if ODND & SouthParkFan2006 might be connected... The page User:Krakjackbiscuit/sandbox has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Hey Dan! Thanks for your help in review my page. I know there aren't a ton of sources for Debbie Ma, BUT, i did find one from Artnet which is pretty significant art news resource. One of the main ones in the industry actually. So if she's written up there, it actually MEANS something. I think she's a significant addition to the encyclopedia because she has transitioned from supporting giant luxuray brands into a fine art career. Request on 22:52:52, 1 December 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by Jmekis[edit]

Hello Dan -

Regarding the complaint: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources." I have read the listed links, and it appears (to me) that the article's statements are supported with either links or footnotes to CIP4 website, independent books, magazine article, etc. XJDF has been a multi-year effort by more than 100 companies & universities (and there's a link for that statement too).

  • What specifically is needed to address the "reliability" concern?

(Like you, I am a volunteer, and while I've helped maintain a few Wikipedia articles, this is the first that I have attempted to originate. I have participated in CIP4.org workgroups for more than a decade.)

Thanks, - Jim

Jmekis (talk) 22:52, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

*@Jmekis:, apologies for the delay in responding to your query. Essentially the CIP14 website, press releases, presentations or interviews of CIP14 staff are all primary sources. As such they are not reliable sources as they aren't independent of the product. In addtion Amazon.com is not a reliable or acceptable source either. Which is why I declined the draft as it needed reliable secondary sources to establish notability. I hope that answers your query - happy editing. Dan arndt (talk) 05:04, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Dan -   We have added more supporting docs & sources, but have questions.  Example: I declared more than 100 member companies & educational institutions, and referenced the CIP4_Members URL.  You labeled that a "primary source" requiring secondary.  Yet only the organization can provide that info.  Solution?
You also referred to "reliable sources needing to be independent of the product".  "Product" is usually defined as commercial in nature, but XJDF is a freely-distributed interoperability specification published by a non-profit standards organization (similar to linux, or jpeg).  CIP4 has no payroll, only volunteers.  Does this make any difference in source threshold requirements?  Thanks again,  - Jim Jmekis (talk) 01:05, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Move action on Draft:Humayun Kabir (Trinamool Congress politician)[edit]

@Dan arndt, G'Day mate, I saw you have moved this page from Draft:Humayun Kabir (IPS) to Draft:Humayun Kabir (Trinamool Congress politician) but didn't see any explanation. From my point of view, this edit should be reverted. Because this Humayun Kabir and that of Humayun Kabir (TMC politician), is same but different person. They belong to same party and has served as cabinet member of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. But the draft of the person is a former police officer and politician from Debra, Paschim Medinipur while this Humayun Kabir (TMC politician), is just a politician from Murshidabad. Can you clarify this issue? CSMention269 (talk) 10:03, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Kull[edit]

Hi Dan! I saw that you draftified Draft:Jon Kull. This article had previously been accepted at AFC, and I later declined a proposed deletion. I believe the subject satisfies WP:NACADEMIC on several counts. Would you please reverse your draftification? If you believe the article does not satisfy Wikipedia's inclusion criteria, please nominate it for deletion instead. Jfire (talk) 06:14, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jfire: done - have initiated AfD process. Dan arndt (talk) 06:57, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of beaches in Sri Lanka[edit]

The article makes my head spin. I see you have cleaned it up a couple of times. It is still infested with spammy travelog references. I am seeking feedback to avoid any accusations. How do you feel about removing spammy refs en masse and tagging them with CNs? Chanaka L (talk) 03:02, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Chanakal: I'll have a look. Dan arndt (talk) 03:03, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ahmad B[edit]

Dear Dan, I have addressed your comment regarding "BLP, Patent register, YouTube and Google Scholar are not suitable sources for establishing an individual's notability". I have removed all such references. Can you please check here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ahmad_Bazzi Randomreader162 18:43, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:The Maggy Haves School[edit]

Hello, Dan arndt. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "The Maggy Haves School".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 03:19, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

is it practically possible to admit this idea? It was a novel idea based on Tegmark's work, not something directly mentioned within them. I feel like this is made clear within the article. Would it be appropriate in some other format than a unique article? Any suggestions on rectifying the issues?

Hello Dan arndt. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Institute of Management and Career Courses, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I'm not seeing any matches with the target page, other than a few phrases here and there. Draftifying[edit]

Hello Dan arndt, I hope you're well. I'm reaching out because I noticed you've draftified quite a few pages lately, some of which I'm reverting now. Per WP:DRAFTIFY (point 2d), articles older than 90 days should not be draftified without prior consensus at AfD. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:40, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Josh for clarifying, I thought I had seen a guideline against it. It's an odd thing to do, nothing to gain from it as nobody is going to work on it there. I have no objection to Dan taking articles he has a problem with to AFD. I just don't like being mass templated for articles moved to drafts I created 17 years ago and it being called "recent".♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:44, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let's assume good faith here @Dr. Blofeld. For all we know, Dan wasn't aware or just missed the creation date of the articles. Never the less, it'd be awesome if you could add some references to some of these older problematic articles. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:26, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am assuming good faith. Dan is an experienced editor whom I have rewarded with a barnstar several times. I'm sure he believes he is helping clean up Wikipedia by moving short stubs to a draft, but there's not much point given that nobody will work on them. If there's a problem AFD it and communicate with editors on it, don't just template them. That Ayres film doesn't have any hits in Google books, he's right to question it. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:49, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: / @Dr. Blofeld: - my apologies for not being aware of the requirement that articles older than 90 days are not to be draftified. I am currently participating on referencing drive (February 2024), and had taken the position (incorrectly) that rather than deleting an item I'd move it to draft to allow editors the opportunity to improve it/reference it, if they felt that the article was notable enough. Rather than go through an AfD for those articles I will PROD them instead and for those articles which have been PRODDED before will take them to AfD. I wasn't intentionally trying to create an issue and apologise if my actions were taken the wrong way. Also Dr Blofeld I wasn't "mass templating" articles but systematically looking at each unreferenced article - trying to find suitable references and adding them but where I couldn't, rather then leaving them unreferenced, trying to force the matter by removing them from the Wikipedia mainspace. Dan arndt (talk) 02:10, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dan arndt: Knowing what I know about you, I felt confident it was all with the right intentions in mind. A lot of people aren't aware of the 90 day rule which is why I monitor User:SDZeroBot/Draftify Watch and reach out when necessary. Thank you for your work at WP:FEB24 and best of luck in the competition! Hey man im josh (talk) 02:19, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: thanks for pulling me up on the whole DRAFTIFY issue otherwise I would have been completely oblivious. Dan arndt (talk) 03:25, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We all gotta learn sometimes :) Hey man im josh (talk) 03:27, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tis OK Dan, I know you ultimately want to improve the site. Every article does need sorting out. I did actually propose to draftify thousands of stubs in around 2016 myself. It was rejected. I think the best way to deal with articles is AFD as prodding doesn't expose the community to it to comment and potentially improve it. Articles of mine have been prodded and deleted which were notable and could have been saved.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:23, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See A Man's Way now. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:22, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dan arndt,

I know you are a very busy editor, I seem to come across your name dozens of times each day. But there is one little action that makes things easier for admins who patrol CSD categories. If you want a draft or other article moved to a redirect page, please use Twinkle and do CSD>G6>Move and put the name of the page to be moved in the field. This sets up a CSD tag where the article to be moved is linked so an admin can go look at it to see if it's in suitable shape and, in one edit, move the article and delete the redirect simultaneously. It happens very fast and I think if you tag the page this way, the request will be acted on much faster. Thanks for all of your contributions to the project! Liz Read! Wikipedia Asian Month 2023 Barnstar[edit]

February 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 04:39, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dan,
Please leave edit summaries when you move articles. Some of your page moves are being reverted partially, I'm guessing, because you didn't provide any justification or reason for your page move. Leaving a brief explanation helps other editors understand your decision to retitle an article and less likely to revert your action as an undiscussed page move. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:41, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Feb Backlog Drive - Review of Château de Malleret[edit]

Hi - I left the following review of your edit to the Château de Malleret article: "four references added, one is self-published, one is primary, one does not link directly to the information conveyed in the article and one is to information which I cannot locate in the reference. Three of the four sources fail verification, however, I'm passing with the primary one because because it does confirm the location." You cited a 1938 edition of the Eliot edited text, I could not find that, but found this 1910 version online: [2]: searching that I could find no references to the father (Pierre) or the château. Page Move[edit]

Hi Dan,

I'd like to get your perspective on why this page move was applied?

Draft:Open Process Automation Standard#O-PAS™ Standard Bwg21 (talk) 21:53, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Bwg21: - In the naming of articles abbreviations and acronyms are ambiguous and are to be avoided - titles should be a name or description of the subject that someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert in, the subject area will recognize. Also as per WP:MOSTMRULES ™ and ® symbols, or similar, are not to be used in either article titles, text or citations.

@2600:8802:1913:1F00:2C8C:A618:904D:95: - as per WP:OTHER, just because other article exists is not a valid argument to include similar articles, particularly when they do not meet Wikipedia's Notability guidelines. Dan arndt (talk) 02:24, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit revert?[edit]

Somewhat disappointing to see factual, well known information removed as being "unsourced" and referred to as a "good faith edit". It is neither unsourced nor a "good faith" edit. I am an industry professional who personally knows these people. MusicNinja1 (talk) 08:32, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MusicNinja1:, All content additions need a citation/source for the information. Good faith edits are those where an asumption is made to acknowledge that the person had malace or harm intended by the edit and that the contributor has not been warned pr sanctioned. The last comment that you "know" redgardless of whether its part of job, you are freinds, or you are researcher with multiple phd's holds no weight and falls into what we call original research. Wikipedia has very strict rules when associating something with a living person to protect both the contributor and the people referred to. 09:29, 12 March 2024 (UTC) Gnangarra 09:29, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnangarra so, basically, there is really no point contributing any factual information that is first hand info as well as well known info.
And "an asumption is made to acknowledge that the person had malace (sic) or harm intended by the edit"? "Malice or harm intended by the (my) edit"? Hardly.
Never had this reaction before. But at least I know not to post anything now. MusicNinja1 (talk) 14:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MusicNinja1:, nobody is stopping you from editing Wikipedia. My interpretation of a good faith edit is that it was made with the right intention of adding information or correcting an error but was done so without the full knowledge of what the respective policies/guidelines were. In this case when adding information or make changes to information on an article you need to be able to back up those changes with reliable verifiable independent sources - if you can't provide sources even if you know from firsthand knowledge/experience that they are correct - those changes can be removed becuase you aren't able to prove them (unfortunately the arguement that just because I know its true doesn't make it true doesn't hold any wieght). Anyway for what it is worth I hope that you continue to edit and aren't disheartened if your edits are reverted but learn from the experience. Dan arndt (talk) 02:35, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Its alright, this dude Dan just likes to deny stuff because he has the power. MarshallBaseball (talk) 02:57, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As you know, today's Russia is a dictatorships that controls all area of public life including Russian sector of Wikipedia. The English wiki page "Temo Svirely" exists. Knight Bachelor[edit]

Hi Dan, thanks for your feedback. I had thought that simply the act of receiving a knighthood from the Queen would spark sufficient interest into what that person did in order to receive the prestigious award. There is a short list of knight bachelors already on wikipedia. Sir Thomas North is one who is not reported on - most others are reported on. He must have done something worthwhile to have the Queen notice him don't you think? Or do you think that he is just some dead guy not worth a mention who stumbled across a medal? New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024[edit]

Hello Dan arndt,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

I understand your intention, and it's important to clarify that my role is to provide assistance and ensure that the content meets certain guidelines and standards. While your article provides information about Arushi Nishank and her accomplishments, it's important to ensure that it adheres to the guidelines and does not appear to be promotional in nature.

To improve the article's presentation, you may want to focus on presenting the information in a more neutral and objective manner. This could involve avoiding language that appears overly promotional or biased, and instead, presenting the facts in a straightforward and factual manner.

Once you've made any necessary revisions, feel free to share the article again for further feedback or approval. Thank you for your understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Atlantis7807 (talkcontribs) 17:01, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I thought biographies use the common, not legal name of their subject, e.g. George Orwell over Eric Arthur Blair. 10/13 of the sources on the page primarily refer to her as "B.E. Boykin", which is also the name she publishes her music under. A quick Google Search confirms this.
However, I wanted to ask if there was any further reason before simply reverting your edit.
