If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User talk:K6ka/Dashboard, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Sorry about Alexander Hamilton

I fixed my changes to the Alexander Hamilton page; it was not constructive and was only made for the sake of a joking reference to the Hamilton musical. I took a screenshot and then removed my edits. Sorry for inconveniencing you, I didn't realize anyone would notice so quickly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.138.86.153 (talk) 17:55, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You made a mistake

"If you think I made a mistake...." Yep. You did. I am cleaning up the Sussex Vampire entry, moving the Firesign Theater comment to the Giant Rat of Sumatra page and putting a "Further" template on that section. I edit as an IP address by choice and have been an editor here for more than 9 years. No offense intended by you, i am sure, and none taken by me. I will continue the work i was doing, and trust you to understand it was not vandalism, even though it resulted in a net loss of 200 characters on the page. Thanks. catherine yronwode, not logged in 75.101.104.17 (talk) 18:59, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No apology necessary! I actually undertook this as part of the revision of the Giant Rat of Sumatra page, due to the discovery of seven new species of giant rats... Please see that page and proofread it, if you would be so kind, Thank you. Sincerely, catherine yronwode, not logged in 75.101.104.17 (talk) 19:52, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Really, I think you would make a good RfA candidate. I noticed sometime ago that you were a global renamer, so when you left a message on my talk page today (thank you for that, by the way!), I remembered that and thought a person with such a right might be a good candidate for RfA. As you might know, I'm very active in RfA reform and I started the now massive Phase I RfC for RFA2015. I firmly believe that we need more admins, and I did not change my mind at all just because I managed to pass RfA. (There's a good plenty of candidates just as good or even better that didn't pass; it really all depends on who shows up.) Back to the point, I looked into your contributions a bit more, and I was rather impressed with what I saw. Your CSD log looks very good, and the statistics on your participation at AfD seems to show that although you know the policies, you do also think for yourself (e.g., you don't always choose easy AfDs and pile on with the "winning side" just to improve your stats). That's a good trait in an administrator. You also seem to be very active in anti-vandalism. You have about two years of experience and around 15,500 non-automated edits. Obviously, the trust that comes with the global renamer tool would also work in your favor. Your weak point seems to be content creation, though. You would definitely get some opposition for that, but I think there's a considerable chance that your other work would outweigh that in the eyes of the voters. Let me know if you would like me to nom, but you could also ask someone else. I really just wanted you to consider the possibility of running. It would be my first nomination, and in any case I'm not in good repute amongst the anti-RfA-reform crowd (they showed up at my RfA, and not in the support section), so there might be some degree of guilt by association. (The nominator really does matter, you know.) --Biblioworm 00:05, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Biblioworm: Thank you for your comments! You're definitely not the first person who has suggested that I run for RFA and offered to nominate me. You are correct in the fact that content creation is a bit lacking, but I do personally think that opposing a candidate solely for lack of content creation even when everything else is fine is absurd.
I am, however, a bit confused at your point about my participation at AFD. "I participate in AFD?" Well, I do, but very rarely, and definitely not enough to stop someone from opposing me for it. Granted, I don't have much interest in working in AFD, so if I got the mop, I won't be seen there very often, if at all.
I've received advice and/or offers from other users about me running for RFA. They're at User_talk:K6ka/Archive_8#Why_aren.27t_you_an_administrator.3F, User_talk:K6ka/Archive_9#Adminship, User_talk:K6ka/Archive_10#Administrator, and User_talk:K6ka/Archive_12#Adminship. I've also received some advice over IRC. My response to every one of them had something to do with RFA being "mean and tough". I am happy to see that there are Wikipedians out there that do realize the need for new administrators and the need to change RFA, which Jimbo describes as being a broken process. While I can't really decide which option is best, I do agree on one thing: RFA needs to be changed. Dramatically. And maybe our mindset on what sysops do as well.
I may consider a nomination sooner or later (Although, I'm not one to make promises!). I'll definitely contact you if I decide to run, and I can certainly ask you for advice (especially considering you've been through the pepper spray and tomatoes, and you're still in one piece). I may or may not pass my first RFA, but I know that, even if I fail, there will always be some Wikipedians out there that will keep me from being discouraged.
Good luck at RFA2015! (It sounds like some sort of international event, doesn't it?) --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 00:48, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Give me a reason

I've read the article about the notability, now. Can you give me a reason why do you keep putting a speedy deletion notice for an article i spent a long time building... this is all i get? I just don't understand what you're doing... can you make me understand? explain? AfrcnBeauty23 (talk) 18:02, 16 November 2015 (UTC)afrcnBeauty23[reply]

@AfrcnBeauty23: You're not allowed to remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. Also, creating alternate accounts to keep removing those tags is definitely not acceptable, and neither is going to someone else's article to slap CSD tags on them in an act of vengeance. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 18:05, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a thing, I didn't ask you to tell me what am I not allowed to do, or what am I doing to commit vengeance on someone... I'm asking you to give me a reason why do you keep putting a notice on my article, this isn't personal, it's business. I've read the notability article. and as far as I know, I've reached the line... so why are you doing that? what are your reasons? this isn't about you or me.. it's about my article. Maybe just review it again, I'm not forcing you to remove the notice, I'm just asking for a reason so that I would know what to do, and no. this is not an alternate account, just so you know... AfrcnBeauty23 (talk) 18:16, 16 November 2015 (UTC)AfrcnBeauty23[reply]

@AfrcnBeauty23: Because it genuinely is not notable. When I Google the subject, I can only find links to social media websites. Anyone can simply create an account on any of those websites to get their identity on the web. That doesn't make them notable for inclusion on Wikipedia. We need some reliable sources to prove that the subject 1) Exists, and 2) Is worth including on Wikipedia. If you want to keep your work, you may find the Drafts namespace to be of benefit. Also, my previous reasoning for re-adding the tag was justified. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 18:22, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay then... problem solved right? I knew I should have done this article somewhere else, but thanks, I hade a cool experience here in wiki, as a writer, it improved me... I knew better things, and I knew how to be less childish, speaking of being childish, I'm sorry I slapped a CSD tag on someone else's article just to commit vengeance, I mean it. Okay, I better get going now, my experience here today in wiki as an article writer changed how I see this website, everybody must have been working hard here... thanks again, nice meeting you.. For some reason, I got 2 revert notices from you for vandalism that not only were NOT made by me, but weren't shown as being part of my account. I've been editing here for years, and obviously have never vandalized once (why would I). Can you please look into this when you have a chance, and let me know if my account has somehow been compromised? I don't think it has, however - I have certainly never given anybody my password...online or offline. Thanks.

Bomb319 (talk) 17:10, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Bomb319: You were "pinged" because my warning message contained a link to your userpage. Wikipedia has a system called Echo (notifications) that pings people if someone makes an edit on a discussion page that contains a link to their userpage (Like this message; I used the {{Ping}} template, which really just links to your userpage, so you get pinged). You were pinged because my warning message contained a link to your userpage, not because I sent you a message or that you did anything wrong. The message was intended for the IP user, not you. I hope this clarifies the situation. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 17:31, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement

Greetings WikiProject TAFI members!

Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).

If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:

Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.

We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This wasn't me, either...

I received a revert notice from you that was apparently directed to me because of my current IP address. I'm staying at an airbnb and using its wifi; anyone who has stayed at this house might have used the same IP address if it's static, which I don't know. I have never edited the Hydrology page, and I am logged in with my user name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geneal~enwiki (talkcontribs) 01:55, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Geneal~enwiki: I believe you're barking up the wrong tree, because 1) Your user talk page doesn't have any warnings, and 2) I actually have never edited the Hydrology page before. You got the notification because you probably accessed Wikipedia before you logged in; when not logged in, any messages sent to that IP address will be visible to anyone using that IP address. You can safely ignore those messages and log in, where those warnings should not appear again for the duration of your login session. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 02:03, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. Just wondering what tools you use while doing your Recent Changes Patrol. I see that you almost instantly leave messages on talk pages after reverting something. Just curious. --allthefoxes (Talk) 17:55, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Allthefoxes. I use a wide variety of tools to assist me with recent changes patrolling. The one you probably saw me use is called Huggle, a standalone application written in C++. I also use STiki, another standalone application written in Java, and Twinkle, a browser gadget, written in Javascript. I also use popups, which can make viewing diffs in recent changes faster. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 18:07, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
